Schwarzkopf and Rae Palmer launch essential looks graduate competition in aid of HABB

Leading hairdresser and Schwarzkopf Ambassador Rae Palmer is launching The HABB Graduate competition for up and coming stylists that are educated to level 2 in NVQ hairdressing. In conjunction with Schwarzkopf, the regional contest will culminate in a grand final on June 16, 2008, where the final 15 will battle it out to win a fabulous prize including:

• A year’s apprenticeship at Rae Palmer Hairdressing in Southsea
• A ticket to the British Hairdressing Business Awards and the British Hairdressing Awards 2008
• The opportunity to assist Rae on a photo shoot
• The opportunity to work on stage with Rae at Salon International
• An audition for YAT (Young Artistic Team) with Schwarzkopf

The competition aims to unite local colleges with industry charity HABB and to raise money and awareness while providing exciting training sessions for the students and rooting out up and coming new talent. Rae is already undertaking workshops at local colleges (Fareham College and Highbury College, from where the students will be selected) with advice on how to go about interpreting the Essential Looks brief.

By the end of March 2008 the top 20 – 30 students from each college will be invited to do a 5-minute presentation with a mood board and real life model to reflect the spring/summer trends for 2008.

By the end of April the 5 finalists from each college will have been chosen, and the final 12 students will go on to battle it out at the grand final to be held at The Botleigh Grange hotel on 16 June 2008.

Judges for the glamorous grand final are to be announced, so watch this space! The finalists will present their models on stage to the judges and a live audience and the event will be a must on the hairdressing calendar for all hair fashionistas. The elite crowd will enjoy drinks and canapés, and a fantastic Essential Looks spring/summer show from Rae and other Schwarzkopf ambassadors, as well as the presentations from the freshest new talent.
