"You've no doubt seen the fabulous coverage of the HABB Ball in HJ 29 February. It was a fantastic night. I really want to say a huge thank you again to everyone who supported us by attending, presenting, sponsoring and organising - and especially to our chairman Phillip Rogers for his ongoing support and sound advice. We raised a substantial amount towards our annual goal, but it's just the tip of the iceberg and there is so much more needed to help us achieve the 2008 target."

Eva Proudman, managing director of Racoon International, is now president of HABB. She will continue the important task of raising much-needed funding and increasing the membership to ensure HABB can help and support hair and beauty professionals when they need it most. Here are some highlights of what HABB and its supporters are doing to raise funds.

READY STEADY HABB
Some of you may have seen super talent Andrew Barton of Saks go head-to-head with his 10 Years Younger TV partner Nicky Hambleton-Jones on BBC's Ready Steady Cook this month. Maybe it was his test run doing the HABB Cook Book last year, but Andrew won the competition and donated his winnings to HABB. A fantastic opportunity to get HABB mentioned on mainstream television - a big thanks Andrew and Saks.

It doesn't matter what you do - dress up, dress down, shake a collection box - HABB is just asking everyone who's reading this page to nominate someone from their salon or company to collect a single £1 from everyone and donate that money to HABB.

Donations can be sent by cheque, paid by credit card, or donated via www.justgiving.com/hbb/donate

Bike Ride: 2 November
HABB knows how much you've missed the exercise and fun that is the annual HABB Bike Ride, so it's back for 2008. This year entrants can also soak up the sun in Lanzarote. HABB has organised a five-day trip with a day's riding, bike equipment, hotels, meals and stunning country views. The fundraising pack is being collated this month; to request one call HABB today.
