Almost 500 people flocked to the event, including celebrity hairdressers Anthony Mascolo, Trevor Sorbie, Richard Ward and Errol Douglas. The night opened with disco diva, Kym Mazelle belting out her hits and setting the scene for the evening. Alongside our own industry greats, the audience were able to rub shoulders with a host of television stars including Dancing on Ice Natalie Pinkham, Lesley Joseph, Rebecca Loos, Clio Rocos, A Place in the Sun's Amanda Lamb, GMTV's Andrea McLean, and TV Presenter Caroline Feradya. The night was also covered by celebrity favourite magazine, OK!

HABB President Eva Proudman co-hosted the event with past President, Jayne Lewis-Orr. The evening included a hair show themed 'Fashioning the Olympics' with some of hairdressing's leading names including Toni&Guy, Andrew Barton and the Saks Artistic Team, Richard Ward, Errol Douglas, Tim Hartley, Akin Konizi and the hob Artistic Team, Seanhanna Artistic Team, Sassoon's Artistic Team, Johnny Engstrom and the Guy Kremer Artistic Team, and Marc Antoni, presenting a beautiful and provocative show with exquisite hair inspired by the upcoming Olympics.

After the three course meal, all the celebrities were invited on stage to help draw tickets for the raffle prize draw. Raffle prizes included a highly coveted voucher for Jimmy Choo, Harvey Nichols voucher donated by Wahl, Harley Street Clinic voucher, Selfridges voucher donated by Ishoka and Beattie Group, Organic Apoteke skincare products, dinner for four at Brian Turner Mayfair, 2 night break at The Crown & Castle, dinner for 2 at La Petite Maison, Hamper of Wella products, Bag of L'Oreal Professional products and a weekend at the London Hilton. The raffle raised a much needed extra £4,800 on the night.

Following the raffle an auction was held for a number of prizes including signed prints of Audrey Hepburn, Queen and Daniel Day Lewis, two Lithographs signed by Picasso, sporting memorabilia including signed Chelsea Shirt, replica Chelsea FA Cup, signed England rugby ball, and 2 places at the Arsenal Football Academy, tickets to Dancing on Ice final and London Fashion Week.

The first ever silent auction enabled guests to purchase additional signed celebrity prints, a designer dress from Ben de Lisi and Ashley Isham dress, and Corioliss / Swarovski Limited Edition straighteners.

Wahl's designer hairdryers were displayed on the night and created a real buzz as people bid for their favourite hairdryer created by the likes of Anthony Mascolo, Trevor Sorbie, Richard Ward, Errol Douglas, Phil Smith, Angelo Seminara, Akin Konizi, Simon Shaw, Antoinette Beenders, and Andrew Barton.

While the Ball was about raising much needed money and awareness for HABB, the evening was also about highlighting and thanking those who have continued to support the cause throughout the year.

  • Chambers Hair Design & Image International for their unique Dryer Cup golfing fundraising day in 2007

With such a productive and successful evening, celebration was carried out until the early hours to the cool sounds of celebrity hairdresser Desmond Murray who was spinning the decks right through the night.

"This is a very important night in helping to raise awareness of the charity and encouraging as many people in the room to continue their support year on year. It's essential that as many people as possible in our industry know and support HABB so we can continue to help others. We really want the Ball to grow to twice the number - what a great opportunity to raise money and network at the same time! We have many fundraising initiatives happening this year and we really need your help in ensuring they're a success and raise as much money as possible. It was a great night and we did raise around £60,000 on the night but this is just the start of the fundraising - there's lots more we need help with and really hope you'll join us in pushing HABB to the forefront of your team's minds this year." concludes HABB President, Eva Proudman.
